BRIEFING

Hastings on the move

Press Association Training has moved offices in Hastings. For 28 years Marine Court, an imposing Art Deco building with spectacular views over the English Channel, has played host to trainees, including former Sun editor David Yelland and current News of the World editor, Andy Coulson. The training centre was run by Westminster Press up until 1995 when it became the Editorial Centre. Now the foundation course has been moved to Newcastle and, with excellent training facilities in London and Howden, the Hastings training offices were surplus to requirements.
Directors Peter and Pam Sands, administrator Lorna Chaproniere and shorthand consultant Sylvia Bennett will now be based in modern offices at the Innovation Centre in Hastings. The new offices have been kitted out with state of the art video conferencing equipment so that we can teach shorthand to trainees in Newcastle ... and beyond.
Director Peter Sands said: "The time was right for a move. The old offices served us well and thousands of journalists will have happy memories of learning shorthand and putting together their course newspapers there. But we needed something smaller and more modern and the Innovation Centre fits the bill perfectly."
The new address is Press Association Training, The Innovation Centre, Highfield Drive, Churchfields, St Leonards on Sea, TN38 9UH.
If you would like to know more about shorthand by video contact Pam Sands or Lorna Chaproniere on 01424 858123 or email Hastings.Admin@pa.press.net.
